What does the term Generation Gap really mean and do we all understand it in the same way?
Below are a few of the serious, and perhaps not so serious, questions the TEDxBrighton 2012 team put to a cross section of people from the city. Their responses have been cast through the Talking Jobs careers platform schools for you to explore at the event and online:
· Does the generation gap exist?
· How do your values differ to those of your parents?
· What would you say to a younger version of yourself?
· How quickly can you text ‘I love you’?

The Talking Jobs resource was developed to help young people make informed decisions using in depth video case studies that explore how education and family backgrounds impact on career choice. The video player encourages comparisons between case studies as part of the broadening activities secondary schools need to do before focusing on skills and employability.
Talking Jobs founder Andrew Manson is an independent new media producer with anthropology background. He founded Talking Jobs in 2007 before attracting both local and national support for this community based model for careers education. The success of the approach rests on learning from everyone irrespective of role.
This project was commissioned by TEDxBrighton and made possible by the generous help of Andrew Manson (TalkingJobs), Producer – Sarita ‘Frit’ Tam, Videographer – Dave Thomas and Assistant – Liam Walters.
We are thankful to all of the participants who kindly lent us their time to share their thoughts with you.
